On June 15, 2023, Tatyana Terentyeva, ROSATOM's Deputy Director General for Human Resources, took part in the session "How Women Contribute to the Promotion of the Green Economy Principles" held within the 26th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. The session was organized by the Eurasian Women's Forum and the Foundation for the Support and Development of Women's Initiatives "Association of Women in the Nuclear Industry".
The event was attended by representatives of the Federation Council Committee, the Council of the Eurasian Women's Forum, ROSATOM, FSUE Atomflot, the Association of Developers of Environmental Technologies and Environmental Initiatives, and other organizations. It was moderated by Alexandra Ryabykh, member of the Council of the Eurasian Women's Forum, coordinator of the project "Women in High-tech Industries: New Opportunities", co-founder of the Foundation for Support and Development of Women's Initiatives "Association of Women in the Nuclear Industry".
During the session, experts presented projects and technologies in the field of environmental protection, discussed the role of women in promoting the principles of green economy, the key issues of conscious consumption, identified the most urgent tasks and areas of work in the field of the country's environmental development. The speakers stressed how important it is to stimulate the creation of a culture of thrift and environmental patriotism through the transmission of positive environmental meanings.
Tatyana Terentyeva spoke about the environmental values underlying ROSATOM's activities, and about the active participation of women of the nuclear industry in the implementation of the environmental and social agenda. She stressed that ROSATOM's strategy and philosophy are based on the desire to make the world a better place. "Our entire business – both traditional (the production of clean nuclear electricity) and new (wind power, digital products, environmental projects) one – is aimed at improving the quality of life, creating a comfortable and safe living environment. The participation in the "Ecology" national program, the construction of eco-industrial parks for waste recycling, the creation of a closed nuclear fuel cycle and other areas – all this gives a sense of pride to our people, as well as motivates for further development and implementation of environmental approaches. It is in social, volunteering, socially significant projects that women are particularly impressive. Through the strategy of smaller-scale stories, entire communities and movements are being formed that change attitudes to the environmental agenda, to nature, to man, making the world a better place," Tatyana Terentyeva noted.
The session participants pointed out that in the new economic conditions it is necessary to expand the understanding of environmental issues and develop civic activity in this area. There was also a consensus that such events are necessary to update the global environmental agenda, present Russia's major environmental initiatives and unite women leaders who set environmental trends in Russia.
