The South African BRICS Chairmanship was centred on energy security and energy skills training in the energy transition. Russia, assuming the BRICS chairmanship in 2024, plans to continue discussions with partners on issues related to energy transition. In their annual ministerial declarations, the BRICS countries advocate for a fair energy transition based primarily on national interests and freedom to determine country energy balances, technological neutrality and support for the UN Sustainable Development Goals, primarily the SDG7. The panellists will discuss the research findings of the BRICS Energy Research Platform in 2023, and will also focus on the country specificities of BRICS energy transition models and areas of cooperation in this area.
As part of the session: Formal presentation of the BRICS HR Study on Skills for Energy Transition

This time the meeting is held at COP28 in Dubai.

- The role of young people in climate education and communication
- Formats and tools for developing the green skills needed by today's young people in the labour market
- Presentation of the Sustainable Leadership and Impact Management Training Course
- Presentation of the 2024 World Youth Festival
14:30-14:35 Greeting from the moderator
The video "Sustainable education".
The moderator introduces and invites speakers.
The speakers take their seats on the stage, the moderator remains at the lectern.
14:35-14:36 Question to Tatyana Terentyeva
Ms.Tatyana, as a member of Impact Team 2050, I know that Rosatom's contribution to a sustainable future consists not only of its core business – nuclear energy. The company does a lot of work with young people. And this educational program, the announcement of which we have just seen, is an example of such cooperation with young people. The company provides the facilities of its corporate academy, and the ideology and creativity are young people from the G20 countries. At COP and similar forums there are many discussions, sometimes very emotional, about the responsibilities of different generations for a sustainable future. What is your view?
14:37-14:42 Speech by Tatyana Terentyeva
14:43-14:44 Question to Yuhan Zheng
Yuhan, your academic interests in climate, ecology, smart cities and your work at the UNFCCC in the Commission for the Comprehensive Assessment of Collective Progress under the Paris Agreement are examples of how responsibly and comprehensively young people are willing to engage with climate issues. In your opinion, what should education be like in order to equip young people with "green skills" for a sustainable future?
14:45-14:50 Speech by Yuhan Zheng
14:50-14:53 Question to Mujeeb Khan
Mujeeb, I know that you are actively involved in key youth organisations in the field of sustainable energy, such as the BRICS Youth Energy Agency. You are also an advocate of the idea of education and environmental literacy for all. In your opinion, what are the most effective approaches to environmental education and youth activism?
14:53-14:57 Speech by Mujeeb Khan
14:57-15:00 Question to Darina Elizarova
Darina, question for you as one of this year's Youth 20 delegates. The course is called "Sustainable Leadership and Impact Management". Why such a title? How difficult was it to develop the course in a team representing different countries? Are there cultural differences in the way young people in different countries understand sustainable development?
15:00-15:04 Speech by Darina Elizarova
15:04-15:07 Question to Hasan Awad
Hasan, you were also involved in creating the course as an expert. How is this course different from others? How does it address the expectations of young people in the Middle East region?
What is important for a climate leader to know?
15:07-15:11 Speech by Hasan Awad
15:11-15:14 Question to Diana Gamazova
Diana, you seem to be a real "doing" person. You take part in the activities of environmental organisations, you raise awareness of environmental issues, you take part in educational projects, you do research in the field of ecology. The example of nuclear power shows how many stereotypes modern young people have about technology and its impact on the environment. Today, international organisations are talking about "environmental literacy", along with digital literacy, as a necessary educational foundation for every young person. What skills do you think make up the "environmental literacy" of a modern young person?
15:14-15:18 Speech by Diana Gamazova
15:18-15:22 Question to the audience
We've just discussed our vision of environmental education and developing the skills young people need to enter the workforce. The question for you, dear listeners, is what solutions can we, the young leaders, offer to Youth society to develop the skills of the 21st century? What are your suggestions?
15:22-15:26 Opinions from the audience
15:26-15:29 Question to all speakers.
The COP is a place where the ambitions of all stakeholders for the sustainable development of the world are expressed and where solutions to the most urgent problems are constantly sought through dialogue. The role of each party (states, business, public sector) is important for the overall success. In the spirit of the COP, I would like to invite everyone to share 1 task for the coming year. What do you see as the most important task for you and your team in terms of developing young leaders to create and maintain a sustainable and green future for our planet?
15:29-15:37 Each speaker - 1 minute
15:37-15:40 Closing remarks by moderator, invitation to the course
15:40-15:43 Closing remarks by Tatyana Terentyeva
15:43-15:45 A video from Sirius with an invitation to the World Youth Festival

What are the most pressing climate change challenges and what measures are being proposed by women environmental leaders from different countries to address them?
Around the world, the ideologues of ecological thinking are more commonly women. For example, 58% of the CEOs of major sustainability companies are women, and 60% of the more than 200 winners of the Goldman Environmental Prize, called the "Nobel Prize" for the environment, are women. Combating climate change and creating a culture of conscious consumption provides the foundation for women's professional development around the world.
Women's role in sustainable development is becoming a unifying theme that crosses political and geographical boundaries - a theme that requires cooperation and partnership between different countries and economic sectors. Natural disasters and climate change are a global problem, so only by coming together to find solutions and action plans can we achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
Global Women's Climate Call is a teleconference with women environmental leaders from around the world who will join the studio for a global call to action to combat climate change. Speakers will highlight the climate specificities of countries, focusing on the most vulnerable points, outline the real challenges they are working on, and propose actions and technological measures to address them.

The protection, rational use and restoration of ecosystems is the main potential for mitigating the effects of climate change.
Climate change and biodiversity loss are part of the interconnected triple planetary crisis that the world is facing today. They need to be addressed together if we want to move forward in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and ensure a viable future on our planet.
The Northern Territories are particularly fragile, completely unique systems that degrade at a particularly rapid pace.
We will discuss the actions of the most active group of the population - young people for the preservation of northern ecosystems, the creation of protected areas and their development.
During the side event, a strategic session "Youth for Biodiversity" will be held, during which we will discuss the main achievements and development strategies, synergies in combating climate change and biodiversity conservation, and create a single document - Overview of Key Goals for Youth for Northern Protected areas. There will also be an interactive game part with materials developed by the youth clubs of the movement “Friends of the Protected Areas”.
1. How can new youth contribute to the conservation and restoration of northern ecosystems?
2. What solutions can we, young leaders, offer to the youth and scientific community to bring attention to this topic?

We invite our partners and COP28 delegates to join us for soft drinks and meals at the networking event “Impact Party” where we will celebrate the COP28 Youth, Skills, Education Day and the Nuclear for Future Generations Day at the Russian Pavilion. If you are a member of any national section of the Young Generation in Nuclear, you get a special “Mission Impact” gingerbread.
